Lonnie W. Blankenship's Personal Statement My name is Lonnie Blankenship; I would like to be one of your next trustees. I have wife, four children and five grandchildren, who call Columbia their home. I have come to enjoy the rural atmosphere here during the seventeen years I have lived here. I work as a field technician for an independent material testing and inspection company. We inspect concrete, asphalt, sewer lines, rebar, soil compaction, and site development work for Lorain, Cuyahoga, and the surrounding counties. When new developments go in, or road and water problems face our community, I feel I would have a good understanding of the decisions that face the trustees on a regular basis. If elected, I will make every attempt to inform you what is happening in the township by the public access channel, or the web site if possible. The more you know, the better you understand what decisions are being made on your behalf. The residents should be more involved since there are going to have to be some unpopular decisions made in the coming months with am estimated 20% budget shortage. Your input will be needed to move the township in positive way. I will try my hardest to get the Lorain County Commissioners to return more of our tax dollars to us, because we, the people who paid the taxes, should get a better return on our money. I would also like to work with the Chamber of Commerce in an attempt to support our local businesses. We need to make every effort to get people to spend some of their money in Columbia Township and not to treat this as a DRIVE-THRU community. This election has one simple question. Do you like the direction the township is going? If not, now is the time to make some changes-and I ask for your vote so I can be a part of those changes.
